We did it! We now have enough money to pay for the entry fee to the competition!!! The next step is to raise the extra $6000 we'll need for spare parts, materials, travel, etc.
Last night's open house was a huge success!! We raised the rest of the money we needed to get to competition but more importantly, we came together as a team and made it all happen. Sage and Dylan spent about 8 hours straight getting the Robot ready to show off along with lots of help from Cory, Matt, Jake, Jerris, and more. They got the arm mounted and wired and fixed lots of issues with the gearbox. Emily was essential in getting everything organized. Everybody pitched in somehow, if that meant making posters, bringing in food and drinks, setting up tables, chairs, projectors, decorations, and more...
We also had a disc golf tournament earlier this month! Thanks to all who came out including volunteers and players. We made about $300.
Appearances at First Friday, the downtown Saturday market, and Earth Fare are also keeping us in touch with the community.
We have about $6000 right now and we're not done yet. We still have to raise about $5000 more to be able to build a rockin' robot and pay for travel, shirts, and swag too.
We have alot more upcoming fundraisers to do that. These include Robot Driving at the Fair from Nov 3 - 13, a benefit concert on Nov 17, Pancake Breakfast at Applebees on Nov 19, Benefit Dinner at the MLC on Nov 19, Live Music at The Engine Room on Dec 3, and more.
We are also asking that you text "clorox8905" to 44144. The winners (most votes) will receive a $50,000 grant from Clorox!
Other than fundraising, Roger is finally looking like the robot that we've been trying to get him to be for a long time. His gearbox is finished, his arm is up and running, he can follow lines autonomously, he can see with his new camera, and he can even talk through his new speakers! He's finally hanging tubes and "scoring points." There are a few more things to be done that will make him even better but he is well on his way!
So proud to be a part of this team!
